Flin Pierce is a Wollongong local who believes in the power of supporting each other, and getting along.
“I’m 20, and over the last two years especially, I’ve seen so many people my age struggling with their mental health. Things are so much easier when we look out for each other and make an effort to get along,” says Flin.
To create a positive impact on the world, Flin recently launched Getalong – a fundraising initiative that’s supporting some of the country’s most vulnerable people, through raising money for essential charities.
With a simple and striking design, the Getalong campaign has launched with striking white t-shirts for men and women, with profits from each sale going to a nominated charity.
“Initially we’ve given people five charities they can choose from when it comes to donating the profit from their purchase. Beyond Blue, RUOK, Black Dog Institute, ReachOut and Headspace. But we’re looking at adding other charities to the mix in the future,” he says.
Getalong has already raised hundreds of dollars for charity, and Flin plans to launch more merchandise including hoodies and black t-shirts, to raise further funds and awareness. Flin says the response so far has been fantastic, and he’s looking forward to spreading the Getalong word more widely:
“It’s about creating something positive, and showing our support for each other, while keeping it simple for people to understand access.”
